In some countries, the major automakers are working hard to develop vehicles that can be driven latest technology by themselves without someone to go behind the wheel. The first launches are expected by 2015 or so, but in Singapore waiting has become much shorter.
|Navia new driverless electric vehicle for passenger transport|
The picture shows the Navia, driverless vehicle that can carry up to 8 people at once. The Navia, which incidentally has a great resemblance to golf carts, has an electric motor and also has a touch screen navigation. When not hanging around the streets carrying people from one place to another, this little remains on its charging station to recharge its batteries. A system of lasers and sensors has been integrated so that the vehicle can detect anything that is in your way and dodge in time.
The Navia undoubtedly has potential as public transport, although its maximum speed is only 20 kilometers per hour. Soon it will kick in and your route is planned to include airports, universities and major schools, health centers and theme parks, among others.
